October 2013
Dear Club Members,
The curling season is right around the corner; and I will be serving temporarily as the Friday Night League Commissioner — Darrell Robertson has done a terrific job for the last couple of years; hopefully we can keep the league moving ahead seamlessly. I’m sending this note to all the curlers who played on Friday nights last year that I have contact information for; by all means feel free to pass it on to any interested people, and / or pass along their contact info to me. Typically we ask the skips to contact the people who played with them last year, and let us know their plans — I have sent this to all curlers–feel free to respond through the Skip, OR individually. There certainly is no requirement / expectation that anyone remain with the same team in 2103-14, in fact it is a sign of healthy growth within the Club when players “branch out” and expand their horizons by curling with different people / new members. If you have not had that discussion with last year’s Skip / team, and want to play with a different squad this year, please let me know. I would ask ALL SKIPS to reply to me as soon as possible as to their status, and of the people who played with them last year– it is much more efficient for the skips to check on 3 people, and notify me, than for me to contact everyone individually.
Open House week at the Brookfield Curling Club began Saturday October 19 and Sunday October 20, from 1:30 – 4:00, and continues through Monday, Tuesday , Thursday, and Friday evenings, October 21, 22, 24, 25; 7:00 – 9:00. All people, returnees or new curlers are invited to attend as often as they wish in this period. Please encourage friends, family members, neighbours, and work associates to consider curling at the BCC this year — every additional member helps build the strength of the club, and make it a more enjoyable place! It does not matter if you cannot get there on Friday of Open House week – what matters is that I know your plans, so we can begin setting up league planning , scheduling, etc.
If you are interested in taking on the role of Friday Night League Commissioner, please let me know.:)
Thanks in advance for your co-operation; I look forward to seeing you all soon! Feel free to contact me by phone at 986-4343.
Dianne Fraser, President BCC
